Welcome to Shadow Era Decks, a guide to all things Shadow Era.

Shadow Era is a virtual trading card game that can be played on several different devices including Android devices, Apple devices including iPhones and iPads, Mac, and PC.  It is free to download and free to play.  Currently, thousands of players are signed in to the game and playing matches on a daily basis.

The basic format of the game is similar to the World of Warcraft trading card game and also has a similar feel to Magic the Gathering, but not quite as complex.  You have a hero character that has a special ability.  The rest of your deck consists of ally characters, armor, weapons, and abilities that are specific to your hero character.  The objective is simple: kill the opposing player's hero before they kill yours.

It's an easy game to get started playing.  When you sign up, you get to choose a free starter deck that has enough cards to get started playing the game and get you on the road to learning the mechanics of Shadow Era.  Your starter deck will not be immediately competitive with other players, but there is a player vs. environment aspect of the game where you can test out your deck and earn gold and experience that will allow you to improve you deck before you hop into player vs. player competition.

There are options to purchase additional booster packs of cards and starter decks for money, but it is entirely possible to be competitive in Shadow Era without ever spending a dime.  The PVE environment allows you to earn gold and experience (which award Shadow Crystals, the other in game currency) to buy additional cards for you deck.  You can also sell unwanted cards for gold and turn around and buy cards that you do want.
